hello everyone... just got back from the IDMC conference... i tell you man, it's one different conference. this is one conference that requires human to really use your brain to think... different coz in malaysia all i need is learn to vomit things out... n i stayed at pr eng eng's brother's house... had a wonderful time with the family... and learnt a lot too... for example... (get ready your dictionary if you are not so inclined to big words)"Postmodernism, as a philosophy, is in fact the emergent rejection of the ideological assumptions of modernism (such as the foundationalism of Rene Descartes(pronounced day-cart) and the enlightenment-humanist reasoning it propagates)
Post modernism is thus an eclectic construct, shrouded in deconstructionalistic and post-strcuturalistic verbiage, based on a hermeneutics of suspicion and an epistemology of uncertainty that leads to the three defining features of post modernity as a cultural mood - ie the incredulity of meta narratives, the propagation of reality as a social construct and the emergence of hyper reality as a post modern phenomenon.
As such, postmodernism is a sad commentary of man's desperate search for meaning; a vain championing of an ideological abstraction which promotes an ideological arbitrariness - a reasoning without reason in the face of human arrogance and absurdity, which ultimately ushers one towards fideism at best and nihilism at worst."

just one of a few, it's not just about the philosophy, but how should we, post modern christian live in the world facing all these challenges. in the post modern world, nobody can be sure of anything about anyone. therefore ultimately, everything becomes relative.
to put it simply, post modernism is an eclectic construct that leads to fideism and nihilism. what do you think?
